WORKSHOPS

DISCUSSIONS

#1 - Specialisation and expertise: root VS users, or collective empowerment and horizontal and cooperative computing? How to break the barrier between knowledgeable people and bare users? How to share secrets and spread responsability in administrating networks?

#2 - Going beyond the mere "plug’n’politix" slogan: how can technology effectively enhance our political struggles? How can we bring politics into technology (as an inspiration for software development, i.e.: Domain Name Anarchy)? How can our militant experience contribute to so-called "geek-struggles" (i.e.: software patents, net censorship, repressive laws against the Internet)?

#3 - Outreach towards non-political people & groups: connecting with Linux User Groups? How do we interact with our neighbourhoods, with the usual geek, etc.?

#4 - Inner contradictions: confronting technology as a tool for oppression. How does technology shape social structures? How can we face the humans & environmental consequences of computer industry? Can we imagine & build alternatives? How can we avoid our practices and free software developments improve capitalism, or be integrated by authorities?

#5 - Plug’n’Politix identity in question: what are we about? What about our collective identity? Do we want to provide a service for the movement, or do we want to be part of a movement serving itself? Hacklabs and/or open-access spaces? Is it still subversive to just provide free Internet access?
